A suspect has been "cordoned off" at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms after reports of a functioning shooter on the Southern California base, a Marine authority said.
Chief Nicole Plymale said the base's police division got reports of shots discharged around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Officials were dispatched to the scene and before long found the suspect, who has not yet been arrested.
Plymale said she has not gotten reports of any wounds or fatalities.
An asylum set up request is set up, yet Plymale said she doesn't accept there is any further danger to the individuals who live and take a shot at the base.
The base has been put on lockdown until the circumstance is settled.
The U.S. Marines affirmed on Twitter that specialists were researching reports of a functioning shooter on the base.
The tweet was sent soon after 8 a.m. Tuesday. It says the office knows about "reports" and will give more data.
The base is found only contiguous the town of Twentynine Palms in the high desert of Southern California, around 150 miles east of Los Angeles. At very nearly 600,000 sections of land, it is the biggest base worked by the Marine Corps. Around 8,500 individuals live on the base and around 25,000 live in the neighboring town.
